Comments on both aspects are very much welcome (let's say: here)

The above slightly animated "serials worksheet" consolidates a number of helpful serials documents
as well as highlighting bidding rules as they have developed to this point in time. This document will be updated
as necessary.

At the Sept. 2007 St. Louis meeting,
the below linked document became an "action item" which augments the
BHL Serials Union Catalog webpages, as a "working guide to use",
prepared by Matt Person in consultation with Bernard Scaife, Chris Freeland, and Jane Smith.

Combined BHL Serials List aka The Bid List aka The Mashup (Mashup linked here)

The serials record set provided by each of the BHL libraries is partially deduped on ISSN (ca 31%). There is no feasible way to use automation at this stage to successfully reduce the overlap by other means due to the nature of the data. Bernard Scaife, Chris Freeland, and Tom Garnett conferenced about the issues on May 3, 2007 and recommend the following:

    1. Rather than investing in more programming at this time, use the work to date as a rough selection device for serials selection for scanning at our libraries.
    2. Load the partially matched dataset into web interface for BHL members to see.
    3. Allow records to be searched by subject area to allow for collaborative division by subject area to take place.
    4. Records can be flagged by institution who wishes to scan ("intend to scan"), either interactively or in batch mode by supplying lists from ILS for upload.
    5. If this approach can be (or needs to be) improved upon in the future, we can revisit this.
