BHL 2.0
BHL 2.0
BHL is currently dipping it's collective toe into the world of social networking and TooPointOh!
We're doing a variety of things (see below), but there are probably many more that we can/could be doing. See something lacking from this list that you feel BHL should be involved in? Add it to the list and start it up!
Below are a list of BHL 2.0 activities and the BHL staff involved with it. Please contact the persons listed if you would like to be involved.

BHL Omeka
- BHL Omeka sandbox. This is a test area for interested BHL staffers to experiment with Omeka.
BHL Blog
- BHL has been blogging since 2007. The blog is the primary spot for tech notes and other news related to BHL. If you feel you have something to say about BHL on the blog, contact Chris Freeland or Martin Kalfatovic. We can either post your news, or, even better, maybe you would like to blog it yourself?
- BHL Book of the Week
Twitter (BioDivLibrary)
- Yes, BHL Tweets! Be sure to follow BioDivLibrary and find out about new books and other BHL news. Use the hashtag #BHL on your own BHL related tweets. Contact Martin Kalfatovic
BHL Twibe (BioDivLibrary)
- Yeth, we are now a Twibe, and we don't even cover Anthropology! Who can't love a 2.0 tool that makths you thound like you have a lithp. Twibe will syndicate all group Tweets containing the term(s): BHLE OR BHL OR BioDivLib
BHL in Wikipedia
- Various BHL staff have been experimenting with Wikipedia. See this page for more information
Flickr
- BHL maintains a BHL Flickr group where we've posted pictures from meetings, events, etc. These images are where we point the press for BHL pictures, so it's good to keep them "professional". If you would like to contribute to the Flickr BHL pool, request membership from Chris Freelland
Facebook
- BHL has had a "group" on Facebook for quite a while; it's being phased out in favor of a "BHL Page" (the general trend on FB).
- Old Group
- New Page
Ning
- We got ning ... now, what do do with it? Our network is BioDivLibrary. Contact: Martin Kalfatovic
Second Life
- No, BHL does not have an island yet, but there is some interest in experimenting to see what kind of place BHL could have there. Currently Grace Duke and Bianca Lipscomb offered to kick-off the exploration. Contact either if you're interested.
Wikipedia
- BHL will begin to actively create "title" pages (or enhance those already there) for key titles (e.g. Species Plantarum); as part of the BHL IMLS grant, BHL staff will actively annotate these title page with copy specific information about each library's holdings of that title (stay tuned for examples)
LibraryThing
- An experimental LibraryThing BHL collection will be set up as part of the BHL IMLS grant: BioDivLibrary
Open Library
- BHL will explore Open Library as part of the BHL IMLS Grant
