Facebook
Ideas for How We Could Use the Facebook Page:
Status Updates:
Use status updates to write about what is being scanned or pulled that day. Perhaps even add pictures with it of an interesting page. (maybe at next staff call we can discuss if other people want to do this at their institutions too)
Thoughts: Do we want to have our status updates post to twitter as well? There would be some redundancy with that, because the blog now links to facebook, but the posts are also tweeted automatically to twitter, so this might influence us to not make the status updates automatically tweet to twitter. However, some of the things we do in status updates, like what we're scanning that day, or thoughts we have about books we're doing or decisions we're making, should, I think, post to twitter.
Notes:
Use notes to post information about discussions we've had at meetings/things we're thinking about. Such as Collections Committee stuff, staff calls, etc.
Events:
Put the things that are going to be on the new global calendar as events on the Facebook page.
Discussions:
Can we use the discussion tab to start discussions with users, such as asking them what features they'd like to see, or what they think about developments in the taxonomic or digital realm?
Links:
Shouldn't we link EOL to our facebook page links section?
Would we want to include links to all the other libraries websites that are a part of BHL? SIL is a link.
Twitter:
Do our twitter updates automatically update our status on our facebook page? I think perhaps they should.
We should actively retweet tweets from users that include #bhlib in their tweets.
