DPLA is creating 2 levels of membership, multi-hubs and single contributors.
For current content contributors, allowed to continue contributing at no cost.
BHL will continue as a content provider.
May negotiate as a Smithsonian governing member in the future.
19th IBC meeting.
BHL Symposium with Nura, and Dr. Xu from BHL China and Harold from University of Philippines.
Status of grandfathering in - response SciElo was very positive towards this. Have not heard anything direct from BHL China.
Dr. Xu moved from Botany to Computer Science in Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Will they remain involved? We expect so at this point.
Wai Yin would be happy to help facilitate those discussions.
Martin and Carolyn can put together an outline and Wai Yin can hold that conversation.
Strategic Planning
Jane Smith is leading the strategic planning process. Jane and Carolyn have done a first pass review, incorporating input from the Members' Meeting in March. The EC will review the draft, incorporate their changes, and share with the Members' Council. A small committee will be formed to finalize and present at the Annual Meeting.
Oak Spring
Votes are coming in; already a majority
Grace will be doing a site visit to highlight outreach
Members' Meeting
Next planning call will be with Richard and Susan (LA) on September 6 to finalize details.
Looking to incorporate more opportunities for discussion.
Will be looking for users to speak to our group, though less of a public event than in past years.
Presentations - 'peer review' for internal presentations. It can be a time-involved process to properly review and the people proposing need enough lead time as well.
EC Topics
Donations
$675 from 15 donors in the last month
BHL Europe content
Martin would like to have a working plan in place
University of Houston
Interested in collaborating on a video game via an NSF grant. BHL may provide letter of support but perhaps not much more
