Monday - Grand Central Station (42nd Street and Park Avenue), board MetroNorth train (Harlem Line to North White Plains) to the Botanical Garden Station. You should purchase a round-trip ticket from a ticket window or kiosk. The fare will be $16.50.
Suggested train:
8:24 a.m. arriving at NYBG at 8:45 a.m.

The Garden is directly opposite the train station. Enter the Garden and proceed to 6th floor of the Library Building. Continental Breakfast will be available. The meeting will begin at 9:15 a.m.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the group will head to MetroNorth for the return trip to Manhattan:
Suggested train: 5:01 p.m. arriving at Grand Central at 5:27 p.m.
Tom Baione has arranged for our group dinner at the University Club for 7 p.m. Dinner will be preceded by a short tour of the Club’s landmarked library by Library and Collections Director Andrew Berner. We will meet in the Club’s entry Atrium at 6:15. The Club is located at 1 West 54th Street (NW Corner of 5th Avenue, entry on 54th) http://www.universityclubny.org/
There is a strict dress code for the University Club, see below. Additionally, guests may not use or display mobile phones or devices except in phone booths located on each floor. Photography is strictly prohibited throughout the Clubhouse.

Gentleman members and guests are required to wear jackets, dress shirts and ties. Lady members and guests are required to wear clothing meeting similar standards; specifically, tailored clothing that otherwise conforms to this Rule, e.g. suits, dresses, or skirts and dress shirts or sweaters, or tailored pants with dress shirts and jackets, elegant sweaters or scarves of equivalent formality. Tailored pants paired with frilly/tailored/beaded tops may be worn without a jacket, sweater or scarf. No jeans, cargo pants, sneakers or other athletic shoes.

Tuesday - American Museum of Natural History is located on Central Park West between 77th and 81st Streets and its subway station is 81st Street. The meeting will begin at 9:00; we should all plan to be at the meeting spot at the Museum by 8:45.
You'll need to purchase a single use Metro card from a station kiosk for the trip up to the Museum (this avoids the $1 surcharge to purchase a regular card). The 81st Street station can be reached by the B train. From midtown, catch the B train on Sixth Avenue (going north or Bronx-bound) from either the Bryant Park/42nd Street station (just behind the NY Public Library - enter at 40th or 42nd Streets) or at the Rockefeller Center 47th-50th Street station. Take the B train directly to 81st Street. Use the subway exit toward the rear of the train (while the Museum has an entrance at this station, it will only be open to staff when we arrive).
When you exit the subway, make a left U-turn and proceed down the curved driveway toward the Museum's First Floor Security Entrance. Let the guard know you're attending the BHL meeting and you can wait here to be collected and taken up to the second floor's Portrait Room where we will be meeting.
Give yourself a half hour from your hotel to arrival at the Museum.

Roger Smith Hotel http://www.rogersmith.com/

The Seton Hotel http://www.setonhotelny.com (newly refurbished, inexpensive option, close to Grand Central)

The Pod Hotel http://www.thepodhotel.com (new, inexpensive option, pretty close to Grand Central, but make sure you don't get a room with bunk beds unless you want one).

The Roosevelt Hotel http://www.theroosevelthotel.com (adjacent to Grand Central, large old hotel, has some rooms under $200/night)

The Grand Hyatt - Grand Central http://grandnewyork.hyatt.com/en/hotel/home.html (Literally above Grand Central)
