AGENDA and NOTES
- Secretariat Update (MRK)
- BHL Europe Content. Latest message from Chris Sleep indicates that the final data loads for shipment to the US have taken a back burner slot. The initial technical deadline does not seem as rushed as it did before. What are the EC timelines on this? Are there concerns there could be a "hurry up" call from NHM to get the data off the servers? Any ramifications if the data were to be lost and do we need any further higher level discussions with the NHM IT/Tech staff to deal with this? On a related topic, should we have a project plan for overall management of the BHL Europe content? Gildas Illien has volunteered to assist with defining the process for loading the content.
- Donations report. $675/15 donors (21 July - 24 August 2017)
- University of Houston NSF Proposal. MRK spoke with Karen Snyder (Digital Media Department, U of Houston). Snyder is seeking BHL collaboration on an NSF proposal around STEM learning and video games. There was no further word from U of Houston after Hurricane Harvey.
- Letter of Collaboration for NSF Proposal. The EC approved providing a letter of collaboration to Richard L. Pyle, et al. for the proposal, "ABI Development: Developing a Common Global Infrastructure for Scientific Names". Approved 7 September 2017.
- Oak Spring Garden. The Affiliate application for the Garden was passed along to the Membership Committee; Secretariat has discussed splitting the orientation (if they are approved of course) into to parts, 1) Outreach and Communications (to happen sooner than later); 2) Content Generation/Aggregation (when the OSG staff are ready for work in that area)
- Revised BHL Brochure Listing Members. As per the instructions of EC, Grace Costantino offered some options to redesign the back of the current BHL brochure to accommodate additional Members. It's the strong believe of EC that Brochure include all Member institutions in print form. Grace offered the following designs for review.
- Upcoming Meetings.
- GBIF 24. Connie and Martin will be attending.
- TDWG 2017. Martin and Carolyn will be attending and TDWG and managing the BHL symposium.

- CETAF (Fall 2017). Neither Connie, Jane, or Gildas is able to attend the Fall meeting, but Connie will continue to try and stay in touch with them. Gildas and Jane both hope to attend in the future. Gildas offered to pass along any information and have other Paris staff pass that along. EC will discuss on an upcoming call.
- EOL Steering Committee Meeting (27-28 October 2017). Connie recommends that due to costs, BHL not attend in person and see if there will be a call in or other reporting option. Connie will contact Bob Corrigan to find out more details about the meeting and the EC can review then.
