Susan and Don (NYBG): Don: Items identified for next shipment, at conservation lab, hopefully out in next week or two. A couple of volunteers working on nursery catalog Flickr project and some pagination.
Susan: Until very recently, scanning for PG and at this point our work on that is slowing down, We now have roughly 25,000 pages and that is in BHL at this point.
Randy (MBG): Catching up on Gemini issues over last week or two. Slowed down on scanning things. About 3 of us working on part time scanning.
Matt Person (MBL): Putting together small shipment. Joining Discover group. Digital History of Science community – Bianca will be in touch.
Ria Capone (ANSP): Have some shipments out to SIL. Identified next items that we’ll send.
Diana Duncan (Field): Volunteer is working on pagination and Art of Life project.
Adam (Cornell): Recruited some members and setting up a call to review the charge. We’re looking at title level metadata offered to discovery systems. Going to look at article level content. Going to apply KBART Practice to those and reach out to knowledge base vendors
Discovery Services Working Group
Matthew Bolin (AMNH): Recently got a Gemini shipment back and going through post / QA. Putting together stuff for next shipment.
Diana (AMNH) Should be able to send next month. Also been working on Art of Life
Marty (Cornell): Process almost in place for in-house scanning. Much of my effort going to Seed & Nursery digitization for Purposeful Gaming. Getting up to speed on Macaw to get ours in. Giving a talk on Seed & Nursery Catalog digital catalog at an Heirloom Seed convention. Bookmarks – send to Bianca and share presentation.
Marty also gave presentation on it at CBHL and that’s available on SlideShare.
Connie (MCZ) – Moving along with Purposeful Gaming. Social Media and Transcription. About to hire someone to help with PG. Sending materials to Boston IA, somewhat slow return. Going to work with Botany to get an IA Tabletop scanner. Would help minimize some of the time we spend on Macaw. Dates set for annual Global Meeting in Sao Paolo Brazil. For those who don't already know, Connie serves as Global Coordinator as part of her role as Vice Chair of BHL.
Alison (NHM-London) – New manager Chris at IA scanning unit.

Tech Updates
William: Working on requests from Committees. Mike’s time dedicated mostly to PG until April, 25% on general BHL things. Changes on UIs and authors lately. Looking into bigger changes as soon as he moves to more time on general BHL.
Trish: Art of Life: Joel has finished adding metadata to BHL content in IA flickr stream, about 350,000 BHL images. Once all that content is brought in from IA, we estimate over 1 million BHL images in that stream. Blog post asked folks to help us tag with common names. Major milestone for Art of Life. Asking all to help spread the word.
Zooniverse will go live March 4. Project will be called Science Gossip. Asking people to help understand how science was conducted, 19th C periodicals and help us tag images. Beta site will be ready today or tomorrow
Seed & Nursery catalogs. Brewster stuff, Close to completion.
Games being designed, testing on gamer game.
Connie – Harvard Ludwig Institute asked to come and present about Purposeful Gaming grant
Serial deduplication in Gemini

Interested in how it’s working for you, Any comments?
Under digitization topics in left nav menu of wiki, there’s a
link to some documentation.
At one point, we had a scan list of catalog dump from 10 original BHL institutions. We used as a bid list. Now obsolete, because we have 22 partner libraries.
You can search in our issue tracking system AND in BHL, if you don't find the title you're looking for you should create ticket in Gemini so others can see that you’re working on digitizing that title.
Don – Shipment contains issues from 2 or 3 journal runs, ones that were assigned to me.
Ria sent suggestion to highlight bids to help others, visually, skim through and see who is sending what specific volumes. Examples linked from agenda.
