Round Robin

NHM: in a lull, IA operator Gemma got a promotion so in training in SF, while in lull investigating getting in-house scans uploaded, talking to Joel and Keri about using Macaw
What is the status of Macaw? BHL AU has been working with Joel and has made progress, first few volumes have been successfully uploaded to IA, Joel working on documentation, to provide updates as progress is made, JM: would be great to have Macaw as 21st C. answer to orange bag problem and BHL standard
MBLWHOI: trying to keep up with Gemini rquests, monitoring social media work and adding to their own, keeping cluster going
MCZ: about to send a small shipment to IA about 75 vols., pretty much wraps things up for general collection, one of their last shipments?! not for sure, funding will end at end of 2012, so to be concentrating on in-house scanning, VERY interested in Macaw; still doing any Gemini requests
Cornell: approx. 4000 vols. that were in IA are now in BHL! Joy (digital collections librarian) and Francis Webb - now have access to deduper tools to work out what to scan next, most will be special collections and entomology; press release coming soon; Marty really going to be taking more of the lead
AMNH: sort of in a holding pattern, trying to get QA fail items rescanned, NJ scanning facility still making decision about whether or not they will rescan, DS to be sending items to SIL early next month
NYBG: Very interested in Macaw; shipment at IA but not for BHL, for metropolitan something but content will be going into IA, willing to use BHL FedEx for Gemini issues, BC to resend FedEx info
SIL: Flickr stuff - pretty soon should have page links to every image in Flickr profile; Mike pretty close to be switching MOBOT scanned stuff to serving from IA --> should be adding MOBOT content to Flickr acct; GB has been paginating all items in Flickr, pretty close to being done; Flickr to be nice little bubble of content with complete pagination; hoping to increase Flickr content; sending regular shipments to IA, still scanning rare and folio materials at in-house facility, GB now contact for FedEx workflow
MOBOT: book scanning to be slowing down b/c scanners have to now focus on herbarium specimens, won't have as many books scanners as in past for a few months, now folio scanner only going 1day/wk on BetterLight scanner, folio requests to take quite a while, still doing Gemini requests
Field: 2 shipments sent to IA w/ separate grants, 13% error rate of QA, CG has been in communication w/ IA folks; contract states that over 2% error rate you should be able to send everything back to IA; all stuff going into BHL, so what happens to page inserts for BHL? Yes, page inserts will show up in BHL but pagination gets thrown off in BHL; depends on when correction happens re: ingest to BHL happens, missing pages, pages cut-off issues, etc. converting roman numeral paging to arabic numerals - depends on scanner
Cal Academy: trying to get through last bit of scanning sub-award, 1 shipment of 150-175 ready to go to IA by end of today, smaller shipment to go next week, disheartening QA woes, finding really high error rate :( things have been "nightmare-ish" - BM to check in with GC about sub-awards and QA issues; a lot of things sending are fairly complicated, fold-outs, etc. trying to spend out award by end of March, to be looking into Gemini next week for more fodder, staff time for shuttling back and forth to IA
