Additional BHL UI changes afoot:
Re: Chris' email of 8/30 to AMNH listserv (as well as others)
"All,
Another note, answering follow-up questions. Regarding BHL-US user interface changes, by now you've seen the beautiful new BHL-Australia site at:
http://bhl.ala.org.au/
It is our goal to roll that UI into biodiversitylibrary.org by the end of the year, but because of some local requirements it's not a straightforward change. One key example is that the BHL-AU code does not have the prominent links to EOL like BHL-US requires. You can compare:
AU:
http://bhl.ala.org.au/page/13306961
US:
http://beta.biodiversitylibrary.org/page/13306961
AU code also doesn't have the Darwin's Library annotation viewer because we pushed that out in June. All of these items are resolveable and will be addressed as we move forward to incorporate the much-improved AU interface. But because there is going to be a fair amount of work involved, and because the sites were already out of sync in terms of functions, we went ahead and pushed through the three changes to the existing BHL UI as a useful minor refresher ahead of EOLv2 launch.
It's our plan to have database replication with Australia in place by the end of the year, along with the new UI.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns,
Chris"
