Nov 16 BHL Staff meeting agenda discussion

What's the deal with lunch? equipment? MK had talked to Audrey...? Christine to bug Martin
Grace notes during social session
Michelle can take notes during RR
JJ to take notes during Mike's session
Grace for BHL workflows

Safe harbor during permissions s&t
Grace Lead for L&L report (actually MK confirmed he will be available for this meeting so Grace you're on notes duty)
BHL China update
Making an exception to bring in BHL China content being scanned to IA that do not have MARC records
Content will be accessible via a BHL China sub-collection
Metadata for content will be in Pinyin only for now...good to brainstorm ways to address this in the future, see link above
with the insertion of "English" as a language in IA dataset then OCR will run and pick up scientific names at least, users could come across these books via a taxonomic name search too
MCZ has Chinese catalogers, maybe we could make minimal English language records to help make the BHL China content more searchable; maybe we could contract out cataloging?; once it's in BHL, we could start to ask more pointed questions, identifying priority titles to catalog first; NYBG has a few Chinese lang works in BHL but these have English language MARC records
MBLWHOI 15 or so vols of a Japanese title (scanned in the wrong direction, English records, have been used by Japanese users) - AMNH has scanned same title
SIL has done a couple random volumes (scanned wrong direction, English records)
can BHL display C/J/K?
