- Need a list of minimum requirements for gBHL, see Article III Section A. - Grace, Abel, Jane, Ely, Noha
Synchronization/Replication/Backup/Redirection
- 3 nodes need to commit to mirror minimum set of IA data (within the next 18 mos. SI will work towards developing a mirror; BA to work towards a mirror as well); Chris Sleep (BHLE), Noha (Egypt), Martin/Mike Lichtenberg/John Mignault (US) to work together to discuss details such as:
- What kind of pointer can communicate hierarchical relationships between articles, volumes, titles, etc.?
- Need to define a minimum set of IA files that we want to keep
- What is the best method to synchronize curated metadata
- Need to continue to consider BHL in a box idea for potential global partners (William)
- Decide re: webservices for global replication
- Ea. gBHL member must commit to contributing content into IA
- Concentrate on synchronization of the nodes before concentrating on redirection

Scan Requests/Deduplication/Feedback
- -Simon & Wolfgang to continue to talk about integrating BHLAU scanlist into US/UK Scanlist
- -Bianca to write up GRIB-Scanlist discussions and post to wiki, link to this meetings' notes, and disseminate to group -- DONE
- -Bianca to send a sample to Wolfgang of Monographic Deduper by Tuesday June 12 -- DONE
- -check in early next year on status of the GRIB (jane connie me henning martin grace ely heimo, etc.)
- -BHL US/UK to check to see about getting resources to help with integration of global partner content into the scanlist by end September - getting folks to help Wolfgang
- -BHL US/UK to work on disseminating existing tutorials & log-ins for BHL global partners; consideration for skype calls in the future (Bianca, Grace, Henning)
- -Decision: global partners to commit to using Gemini
- -Bianca and Henning to figure out how inter-nodal use of Gemini works and disseminate to group
- Jiri to send Bianca documentation about how to implement web form that links to Gemini in Drupal -- DONE, see Gemini page
- -Bianca to verify specs re: Gemini; number of users? number of projects? any restrictions? by the end of summer -- DONE, thanks to Grace, confirmed from Countersoft --> "Your Gemini instance is for unlimited users / projects."
- SIL to BHL SciELO to get a list of Brazilian serials into Scanlist
Copyright/Permissions/SubCollections/Communications Plan
- -Decision: we do not want to put restricted materials in BHL, all scanning even if in copyright should be made available for open access, regardless of access location
- -Decision: global nodes agree to use minimum copyright metadata fields; but up to each node to decide what values/language they would like to use within the fields
- -Joel to revise Macaw to include US/UK std copyright metadata fields by Aug 1
- -Bianca to finalize and disseminate Permissions page for US/UK to gBHL as well as copyright values
- -Jiri to disseminate BLE collection tool when ready and Bianca, Grace, John, Joel, Jane, others welcome, to discuss how to use the tool for creating additional sub-collections
- John Mignault & William create a skype directory page on the private wiki
- -Chris Freeland/William to create page on global site to showcase various collections
- -global outreach group (US: Grace, Au: Ely, Brazil: Grillo/Fabiana (technical Fabio), Egypt: Mariam Nagui, Europe: Henning/Jiri) will contribute to global dissemination private wiki page with twitter handles, FB, blogs, also add points of contact etc.; continue with organic approach to social media messages/posts for now (see notes)
- -Chris Freeland/William to create page on global site to showcase various global social media platforms (blog, twitter, FB, etc.); then ea. partner will commit to adding the link to their respective outreach platforms where appropriate (see gBHL dissemination page)
Additional Items
- -Need to have a work group on scanning standards and post processing, QA issues: Noha, Connie, Joel, others from US
- Decision: We cannot overwrite original IA OCR text file; need to upload additional files with modified OCR to IA
- Ely to write up a problem statement about potential student OCR research project w/ 2 out of 3 OCR text files
- Patricia to post notes re: RMCA local exhibition on gBHL mtg Notes page
Sustainability/Regionalization/Future Mtgs
- gBHL EC to develop a criteria for new global BHL Members, such as a membership application/list of questions that need to be answered using the minimum requirements as will be developed by Connie, Grace, Ely, Jane, Noha, Abel (see above)
- Decision: individual nodes must make the decisions about the kinds of content they want to provide - could be something nodes need to agree to as part of membership application
- Martin to follow up with TDWG
- Henning to follow up with IPBES
Other
- William & Martin to decide about quarterly reporting timeline: Quarterly reports due 30 days after the close of the quarter...
- Ely to send thank you note to Graham Higley, Tom Garnett, Cathy Norton
