Washington, DC - ALA Event, June 25, 2007
Washington, DC - ALA Event, June 25, 2007
The American Libraries Association's annual conference is in Washington, D.C. in late June.
Smithsonian Libraries is planning to set aside June 25 for informational briefings and other meetings. I envision this as an opportunity to accomplish two tasks, 1) meet with other interested parties that may be in Washington during this time and, 2) promote BHL in the library community.
Please let me (Martin) know as soon as possible if you or other members of your library staff will be attending ALA. If you have any ideas for agenda items/program events and/or would like to assist with any of the events, please let me know as soon as possible.
Here are some thoughts as to what could be done:
PUBLC EVENTS
- General overview of BHL
- Demonstration of BHL portal
MEETINGS
- OCLC analysis tool
- Infrastructure discussion with vendors
- Discussion of open source solutions (specifically Fedora)
- Meeting with publisher/aggregators (BioOne, JSTOR, etc.)
DETAILS
- Time: June 25, between 10 am and 4:30 pm
