Agenda
Full Text Search status update
Had a process last night that ran into a problem; have old and new stuff running at the same time. Everything else looks good. Names will get indexed tonight.
Good to go!
Mike - finished up indexing; looking into APIs. Stuff to add to admin site.
New version of the API but does not need to be ready for public launch.
Full Test FAQ - reminder to add any comments or edits. We'll be sharing with Staff this week and posting on public site once launched.

Add any changes by close of business Thursday.
Question for Tips & Tricks - will Google index our full text now that it will be available, or will it continue only searching bib metadata?
Doesn't change what Google can see. PageOcr/PageID which exposes OCR publicly. Currently have search engines ignore that. No UI and not the kind of thing you'd want to expose.
8:30 Central - scheduled Launch!
Post-lauch full text tasks
- Sys Admin updates: i.e., Message queuing for diagnostic calls, ... should be low barrier.
- API v. 3 - projected effort TBD. Support provision of ISSN in addition to journal name.
- Others? None at this time.
Upcoming tech priorities
- Transcription ingest - Mike to propose needed input, staff, resources. Then we'll work out timeline. Susan to send From The Page files; Ricc sent some files.
- DOIs - "targeted assigning DOIs" for those we specifically have title-level permission to assign DOIs to the articles. could be message queue; look at title in it's entirety? by dates? to be decided. Australian DOIs resolving to Australian institution. Will these all resolve to BHL? Yes. Dependent on ingest on article metadata. Batch article tool needs one more round of fine-tuning, and documentation. Also needs Macaw integration into that.
- Action Item: Susan and Joel to look at what is needed to finalize this.
For consideration: Batch editing of segments is another need; Nicole wanted to add hundreds of DOIs to existing segments. Allowing for bulk edit as well as bulk definition. Susan and Joel to discuss as part of their review.
- Metadata Modeling - overall metadata model based on input from user surveys and other sources. Very aggressive timeline. BHL EC has approved funding for consultant for re-vamping metadata model. Working with IndexData, Cataloging Group, plus potentially a handful of others. IndexData have been looking at GitHub and will propose a statement of work. Susan will create Gemini tickets for issues she's identified.
- Preliminary discussions between IndexData, Mike, Catalogers, others
- In-person meeting, DC: pre-September 30
- Penultimate draft: September 30
- Goal: have a new metadata model by end of calendar year. 2019 = platform development. Hopefully by then, more info on IIIF. FOLIO as possible "catalog" for BHL. Cornell is rolling out in the fall. Mike's work will involve looking at how all the BHL things fit into FOLIO system.
- Reviewing little things - Mike to review the open ones. New York Academy of Medicine - 3 pubs need re-alignment in IA. BHL needs to be re-aligned. For 2, problem was so severe. OCR is matched with the wrong book.
- Action Item: Susan will send Joel the ticket numbers.
- Wikispaces - Joel, Grace, and Bianca are investigating the options and will have a recommendation by May 9.
Google Change of Terms / General Data Protection Regulation - effective May 25
- Review and possibly modify our data retention controls in Google Analytics
- Review/accept updated data processing terms in GA Admin -> Account Settings
- Possibly update our terms of use to reflect any new policies/changes regarding data retention/use
Action Item: Joel to ask Brian Alpert; will notify Grace and Carolyn of SI guidance.
