EndNote Update (from Mike):
The RIS replacements for EndNote have been implemented and are live. The bibliography pages now have a RIS tab that is populated with RIS data; those tabs include the option to download the RIS data. In addition, there are two new API methods (GetTitleRIS and GetPartRIS). A process to create RIS exports is also in place. The first RIS exports will be created on April 1.
Members' Meeting Update (Martin and Carolyn)
BHL Egypt
Reviewed the jointly produced document on tasks for BHL Egypt. Martin and Carolyn met with Ahmed, Yousseff, and Dr. Nagi. They will review and create a work package document which we'll present to the EC for final approval as Dues.
Ahmed will join Tech Calls on roughly a monthly basis.
Strategic Planning
Members' Council reps have varying levels of interest in tech priorities. Some newer reps very interested, so we may seek more input from them.
Notes from the strategic planning exercise will be shared with this group once they're ready.
Macaw and growing server space needs (Martin and Joel)
2 issues
- error in system; thousands of records generated for a single item
- system locked up with too much content
Individual quota limits for logins?
Joel is looking into. Maybe on the organizational level. Might be based on percentage of our space that they're using. Will assign to Kristina to implement
Right now Macaw will stop uploading at 5% remaining.
Survey distribution options (Pam)
Designing 3 different surveys, one for Partners; one for systems (i.e., API users); one for individual users
Looking into different listservs.
Also wondering about pop up on BHL
Not a big fan of pop-ups; might be a rotating banner; put in header on landing page (i.e., where we put when IA goes down)
Another possibility -- put it in the newsletter
Link on feedback page; in auto-responder.
Will we have a chance to see the questions before it goes live?
Full Text Server (re)order status (Joel)
Request for new quote at Dell. Parts we were waiting for were on back order and then became available.
Now in communication with SI IT, regarding our standard configurations
Cleared on Friday
Estimate 3-4 weeks before it's ready for us.
Mike's also been doing more experimentation on our server.
Henning gave Bianca an update on Europeana load. Things are moving along with getting BHL metadata in Europeana.
Joel will ping Chris Sleep about the hard drives of BHL Europe content. cc to MRK, CAS, Jane
Susan & Trish
DPLA - third round of QA, hopefully final round and will be able to go live shortly.
Minor concerns - mapping that they do when they add lat and long, a fair number are wrong.
This was discussed via emails and we decided to move ahead.
Other concern - bc DPLA is harvesting item metadata; when a user goes from DPLA to BHL, they'll go to item page and they'll bypass metadata on title page.
