Action Items
Joel will contact Siang Hock from NLB Singapore with a cc to Mike to follow up on determining next steps for SOLR
Carolyn will mark the Gemini issue on field note types as a BHL v2.0 wishlist item

Agenda

GGBN Document library (an fyi, no action items)
- The Global Genome Biodiversity Network is building a document library for genomic research and David Schindel (SI, CBOL, SciColl) encouraged us to connect with them to see if we . Currently, they have about 50 items, available with full text search. They're interested in seeing if they want to point to BHL content, and if there are options for implementing full text over any content they're pointing to. Carolyn shared info on the BHL APIs and they'll look into it further. They've also offered to be a point of contact for questions about SOLR as we get started. Tech Team agreed that we may find our approach may be different due to scale.

ORNL lab and geographic names (an fyi, no action items)
Oak Ridge National Lab is a supercomputing tech agency based in Tennessee which has been seeking a collaborative project with Smithsonian. Martin and Carolyn have been in discussions with them about the possibility of adding geographic name identification services similar to what BHL already has for taxonomic names. GBIF has also indicated interest in this and would like to mine BHL texts for geographic context for species mentions. ORNL is interested in having a post-doc or fellow conduct a pilot study of different methodologies. We've shared examples of related work including Mining Biodiversity, Rod Page's JournalMap, and others. The pilot project would be largely overseen by ORNL with possibly one week in the beginning hosted at SI to introduce the post-doc/fellow to BHL, our interest in the names, etc. If/when moves forward, Carolyn may call on members of the Tech Team to provide input during that first week. In the meantime, there are no action items.
NYBG has a grant to digitize papers of John Torrey and support for geotagging the transcriptions. This will be in the future but will be great to leverage any overlap as possible as both projects progress.

Gemini issue on searching by type of material (just an fyi at this point)
This arose during a BHL Field Notes call with some partners interested in filtering BHL search results by published or unpublished. Carolyn has created a Gemini issue and will mark it as a BHL 2.0 wishlist item for now.

Contributor changes - updates
Thumbnails now appear to be displaying. Code changes are all in. Once indexes are rebuilt, will be officially out and live.

Macaw - work on implementing the parallel changes in Macaw will hopefully begin this week.

BHL move - continues.
