BHL
Migration of CB content to BHL -
Any word on Martin’s meeting with JSTOR? HE Just got back today and no word
Shut down and redirect Citebank. Come up with text for redirect and give to Mike Westmoreland. Bianca will work on the language this week. Could he use a firewall to do redirect page so we don’t need to have a server up for just that page.
GNRD name service won’t stay up and running - status still the same.
MARC mappings document status? Meeting last week with Bianca and William on Friday. Started a spreadsheet that they will continuing working on and then will pass on to Mike and Trish to fill in some info on MARC subfields.
Next steps on discussing the display of Abstract/Notes? Bianca is putting abstracts on next collection call agenda.
NAL – recently joined as affiliate. Will announce soon.
Portal functionality – requests to add collections. Bianca will discuss with collection committee
Browsing by contributor –. Bianca recommends prioritizing this over the collections change. Mike says Tricky to do since AUS design doesn’t allow for additional tabs. Is this a browse only or also search? No just a browse
Art of Life
Flickr content - Waiting for Robert from IA to return next week and then set up a call.
Flickr tags – Trish to review
Classified Images –3 new volunteers from AMNH who Diana Shih recruited.
Syracuse Univ Library school sent out notice for BHL intern for classifiers – got one application so far and will followup.
Zooniverse/ConSciCom – trish emailed and asked for roles/responsibilities. They responded with only a request for another meeting next week. Geoff responsed “Thanks so much for your follow up and the schema - that will be very helpful. I am just in the process of drafting up a list of periodicals in the BHL database which would act as a suitable start - we have a team meeting for Oxford and Leicester scheduled for next Wednesday where we will finalize the list.”
Did anyone look at Geoff’s list?
How do we prioritize Geoff’s list with what’s been processed?
Compare Geoff’s list against what’s been processed 52 titles
Then run unprocessed through algorithm
Then classify
Would they want all classification types ? (drawings, map, photographs).
Does he care if illustrations are full plate or a mix of text and illustration? We don’t distinguish this in the classify step but the coorindates might indicate.
Meeting with Zooniverse Tues 9-10am tomorrow
Dianne Schmidt requested cost share info for project.
Purposeful Gaming
Trish sent list of game testers to Max. Haven’t heard anything.
Text to image linking – Desmond had some partial results. Mike checked in with him last week and hasn’t had time to look at again but will look into this week.
Architecture for Managing multiple OCR versions – what are our next steps? Should followup with Scribe designer, Stuart Lynn, at Zooniverse who is looking into managing multiple versions of transcriptions. Trish will send email asking availability this week and next.
Dartmouth contract was finalized last week
Mining Biodiversity
Did a survey for mockups of how to include semantic search. Response was mostly positive and saw the value. They preferred direct over indirect relationships. Will be following up with focus groups next week. Working on thesaurus, ontologies, authority files to get ready to start manually tagging. Will run Oct-Dec. Tools – ARGO, Crowdflower
Grace in Toronto this week with Dalhousie folks -

NGram correction of OCR – postponed til October. Copied all OCR text from IA and available at NACTEM.
