Record of QA at the BHL Institutions

This page is meant to serve as a record for each institution's QA for each shipment. Please keep a record here of the number of books on each shipment, the number of books QAed from that shipment, the total number of fails and the types of fails, and the resulting pass or fail of the cart/shipment in question. Also, please indicate the action taken as a result of a failed cart. Thanks!

According to NISO standards, 2 major errors fails a cart of this size. Thus, this cart failed. We stopped QA once the cart failed and are sending the entire cart (minus the one book QAed that passed) back to FedScan today (7/30/2009).

Shipment, week of 8/6/2009: Cart contained 76 books. 13 were QAed, and we found no major or minor errors with any of the 13. Cart passed.

Shipment, week of 8/13/2009: Cart contained 56 books. 13 were QAed, and we found one major error. Cart passed.

Staff devoted time during July-Sept performing QA on 5 carts from the 4/30 shipment.
Carts totaled 406 items, QA performed on 65 items (13 per cart).

Each cart had 5-8 minor errors, most involved light or dark but acceptable text,
slightly skewed text (one page of entire volume was skewed a few degrees) ,
and minor glass platen marks, not serious enough to obscure text or impact OCR.

Four of the carts had 1-2 major errors, such as missing pages, pages out of order,
and mis-cropped pages.

Using our system all carts failed. All major errors have been sent to IA for rescanning.
