BHL Europe meeting next week. Chris has a presentation, Tom has 1 BHL presentations and 1 about experiences obtaining permissions, Biance and Bernard are working on de-duping requirements.

Hank Bart (Assembly of Tree of Life project), at Tulane. They are de-commissioning Meade Library. If BHL is interested, we can have some of the contents. . The collection is two thousand titles, mostly journals, but no holdings records. Should let the BHL libraries know in case they would like to contact Meade.

Tom has a BHL poster available on wiki so that Graham can print it out for e-biosphere. Tom also has a BHL plan almost ready to go. Also have some nice BHL business cards with images/url.

E-biosphere--will there be some BHL side-sessions. Dinner evening of June 3 for BHL folks.

EOL external review committee: Jim Edwards crafted a response. Contains revised EOL budget for 36 months rather than 24 months (same amount of money). There will be less money for direct scanning because we need to spread money out over 3 years instead of 2. There have been some comments from the IC--concerns about the reduction in scanning but also pleased that there will be money for an extra year. Can pursue more funding with MacArthur and Moore Foundation. Christian Sampar and Peter Raven have both offered to enable fundraising for BHL.


Chris--moving forward on jpeg 2000 server, Woods Hole is now running djtoka that will serve IA images across internet 2; production switch in a couple of days.

Graham proposed project for Darwin Repository (building) along with Science Museum and with IBM and CISCO funding, possibly. Graham will give a presentation.
