BHL Executive Committee Conference Call March 16, 2010


1. Date for BHL Technical Developers Meeting, Quick Summary of BHL Tech Response: Most can make it to WH in September but Egypt says no. Will encourage Egypt to attend but meeting will be in WHSeptember 22-24 (just before TDWG). Lots of work to get hosting and set-up but we have time. Tom will check on funding for China with NSF.

This will be an in-depth meeting and it will be in the US--may have interest from library directors and other staff. Should we have a parallel meeting for administration? Martin noted that he liked the idea. Fund yourself. Tom suggests we talk about this meeting at the IC meeting and pose the question about parallel track and would they be able to self-fund. Need to be clear that if real work is to get done, need to have the players. Martin suggested that pure technical and administration would be there. Governance coordination, commitment--discussions. Project director meeting.

Can't have too many people--the meetings need to be functional. Informal structure but not a big audience.

2. Chris and Tom will be in SF next week for PLOS meeting.

3. MOBOT has moved to hire Project Coordinator position.
4. MOBOT: In Fedora budget, there are unexpended funds--asking Moore for no-cost extension--can do some Citebank development.
5. User survey posted and publicized. Bianca is gathering the feedback. Bianca will review at IC meeting.

6. Tom noted that there is an NSF call for a new program: Dimensions of Biodiversity; conference call with EOL tomorrow to see where we might fit in.
