6/8/15 Tech meeting
Mike, Trish, Bianca, Martin
BHL Search
Bianca recently did a Training webinar and discovered some search issues when doing it live. Bianca will send questions to Mike for research.
Putting in solr server at SIL. William took lead on search stuff and Mike not aware of what plans he had investigated. Mike thinks Doing bibliographic md and OCR via solr seems logical. Implementing soon after move would be ideal.
DOIs for articles
Martin will setup tech call with CrossRef to talk about possible collisions (include Alvin, Mike and Martin). Bianca sent Mike 1 title suggestion. Does he need more? Mike says No code is very isolated and easy to change. JSTOR is assigning DOIs – hard to always tell which have already been assigned DOIs. Bianca needs a Query – which titles have a lot of articles assigned to them. Mike is Targeting to complete DOI process by end of month
Mining Biodiversity –
Glitch Grace discovered with DISQUS (Mike looking into). MB team mentioned a Possible student could help on the problem. Mike pointed out we have been using 3rd party DISQUS widget- may want to build something from scratch.
Art of Life
Flickr has reopened membership in the commons – Grace has started discussions with Flickr to see if should move our BHL stream over to the commons. Primary advantage is rights issue – can do no known copyright, and will have our content with other cultural heritage institutions.
Still Rights concerns around Flickr images - still some opposition by some EC members about most liberal right statement. Discussion is On agenda for next EC meeting.
ARTSTor – James shulman looking where our content would go – open shelf, do we have to become members? He will get back to Martin.
Joel says Move to SIL servers is going well and still on track for late fall. Mike changing logins for admin site to break ties with garden technology and ready to push to beta. Joel looking at 2 virtual servers for hosting data.
Any outstanding issues with invoices for either Willliam or Grace? Carolyn working with Chuck
Future tech meetings - we will continue with weekly Mondays 11am CST 12pm EST even if we only have a few things to share
