BHL EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE Call July 6, 2010
1. Cornell University application
Executive Committee recommends accepting Cornell as a new partner. Connie will lead a discussion in an upcoming IC call. Connie will get a contact for who to talk to about their software that identifies article level metadata.
2. Summer schedules
Tom at EOL taxonomic triage workshop next week. The work may yield input for future BHL selection: "gap analysis"
Chris at ESRI next week.
Graham and Cathy not available next week.
3. upcoming BHL IC conference call agenda
- Allocation spending plan: who needs to be on the call? Susan and Tom B have not responded. SF prefers subaward because overhead partially pays for shipping. What is the minimum NYBG needs?
- For Staff call--workflow topics, not policies. Will the alternatives work? is the question.
4. Round robin:
- Budget cuts: NHM will have significant cuts. The Smithsonian was also asked to present scenarios for cuts as well. Harvard MCZ Library has unspecified cuts looming.
Chris had the semantically marked up Pensoft pubs ingested to Citebank but there are some problems so he is investigating this. Biblio needs some code enhancement. Interviewing for the Citebank position. Close to a workable solution for automated OAI indexing of publishers. Deficiencies in DOI lookup in Citebank, so need some work there.
Next call: July 20; Dial the same phone number: 1-866-748-1119; Type in the passcode: 1912897#
