July 17, 2007 BHL Executive Committee Notes

not done yet--drafted all changes and sent to Jim and Joe Brennan but hasn't had it back yet. some questions from counsel at Kew--most minor probably no changes.
Received important clarification about how money transfer will work: subaward--2 portions: spreadsheet budget for period of award and a statement of work that will correspond to budget (# scanned pages, portal development etc.). language should be mutually agreeable. 8-9 awards. institution must submit invoices and Smithsonian writes check so institution must float the money until invoices are submitted, no lump sum. Lots more paperwork.
AMNH/NYBG discussions ongoing
Self-organizing (thanks Martin!); Looks good. Side meeting with technical developers; open tech review (architecture etc.) Submit travel invoices to Smithsonian; not sure about hotels yet.
- Chris asked if we might be interested in looking at Fedora digital object repository; Chris will pursue
- TDWG: Chris will attend on behalf of BHL and will do presentation. Neil will be there. Bratislava is a great place to visit.
- Chris, Suzanne and Martin have been talking to LC, UIUC, Harvard, Smithsonian about joining in to get some standards for packing list. Language in contract is general, technical standards. "International standards will be adhered to. "OCA Packing list standards".
