Tech Review meeting 7/15/14

BHL
Uploading CItebank data – uploaded Amphibian and Reptile Conversation successfully (link outs), working on American Mosquito Control Association (ran into some problems with importer that Mike is looking into)
Flickr upload issue- This was resolved. Will changing Yahoo password affect anything? Mike doesn’t think so.
Pensoft author names is resolved – done. They didn’t flag their records as changed which doesn’t impact but would impact other harvestors.
Deleting names from GNRD if they don’t’ find them. This is working again. Paddy and Dima – what is future of name finding functionality? EOL – not sure if they will have a name finding facility but Dima will run the existing one. They said they would like it if we could replicate the software – open source. If we did run our own instance it would only be for us.
Biostor not working but rod said couldn’t fix until he returns from vacation
Webform request – changes to scan request form. Will use Gemini to track serial deduplication (rather than in adm portal) and changes to webform will help this.

Art of Life
Providing stats to Carolyn from Art of Life – pages identified by algorithm, pages classified (monthly). Could we put this in the admin portal? Mike says yes we could do this. Probably best to check with Carolyn on what she needs and where – such as where we keep Number of titles, items, pages on adm page. Trish sent email to Carolyn today – waiting to hear back.
Classification volunteers – only activity from one new volunteer so far but having a lot of problems saving in macaw
Display in BHL for showing pages that have been classified – done. Pushed out to production
IA server access – Jake was on vacation. William will send him his key info this week.
Need to start testing uploading of classified images and metadata to Wikimedia Commons. Gaurav is available for next month and can help with extracting metadata back out.

Tiltfactor – still waiting for a the contract from Tiltfactor
MOBOT press release went out yesterday: Missouri Botanical Garden Project Selects Designer for Purposeful Gaming Grant
FromThePage transcription – Marty experienced some problems with saving records but haven’t been able to re-produce it. Ben Brumfield asked for copy of db and he will debug. Might have been a timeout issue on images because of downtime at IA last week. Mike is still waiting to hear back from Ben.
A few transcriptions in the last week but very little activity.

Mining Biodiversity
Grace and Anatoliy met today to talk about BHL and social media. Grace wrote BHL social media strategy last summer. Anatoliy's input will help improve it.
