BHL Executive Committee Conference Call Tuesday, Jan. 5 2010

On call: Graham, Connie, Tom, Martin, TomAGENDA:
1. Last minute China issues: Chris Cathy, Tom and Phil Cryer leave for Beijing on Friday. Agenda is robust.
2. Brazil: complex visa work Martin, Chris and Tom are going to Brazil the first week of February.
3. Update on ZooKeys-BHL discussions: Chris and Tom will meet with Lyubo about relationships between Zookeys and BHL.
4. BHL Institutional Meeting in March – Choices are NY and St. Louis; New York is most convenient for European visitors and AMNH has offered to organize.
5. Chris Update: --Tom and Chris will meet with JSTOR in NY to discuss data sharing between BHL and JSTOR. Kevin Guthries is the contact. The plant initiative in Columbia noted that this kind of data sharing should be a priority so it kick started discussions again.
6. Updates from Graham:National German consortium has a de-duping tool which they are sharing so by the end of next week we should have a plan for de-duping tool.E-only open access journal of descriptive taxonomy is under development for Europe. EDIT has been assigned to do a full business plan. Graham noted that Zookeys does not have financial resilience and this is something to work on.
