Tech Review 1/6/13
Present: William, Mike, Trish

Art of Life
- No word from Kyle since Dec 10th (have emailed twice)
- British Library uploaded over 1 milliion images to Flickr Commons. I’d like to set up a phone call with them to talk about their experience, also how they developed tools to identify images in books, etc.
- Reviewed latest Macaw UI and sent some followup to Joel. Does Mike have a JSON file we could test the upload functionality with?
- No word yet on 1 yr extension from NEH

Purposeful Gaming
- Doug would like to meet and go over Mike Bloomberg’s role in project, hrs etc
- Monthly PG meeting set up for this Wed 10am (need to add Mike L to this invite). Ask William what number we should use. I didn’t add any call in info in the invite. Will it always be the same call in number and access code? William has to let Bill Berhns know when we have it. Cost – charged to IT or project?
- Service agreements – agreement with NYBG is complete, sent Harvard their Scope of work and waiting for Connie to respond it looks OK, need to send Cornell a service agreement
- Need to get Request for Proposal done asap. William and tRish need to work on. Should probably contact the game design companies that we plan to send to beforehand so they have some heads up.
CBI
- William and Trish need to sit down and determine how much of each of our time needs to be devoted to Art of Life, Purposeful Gaming, and general BHL stuff

BHL
-Citebank migration –Martin had asked for an update on moving JSTOR content over. Said we were looking into whether we could pull the same filtered set on biodiversity directly from IA. Trish sent email Dec 19th to Ron Synder at ITHAKA /JSTOR and waiting for a response. JSTOR wanted to harvest BHL content and put on JSTOR. Some members don’t want it there. Martin will meet with JSTOR and continue discussions with members.

Mike
-Taking care of Gemini issues and low hanging fruit. Working on Adm citation importer. OAI harvesting can it be turned on? Still waiting on Connie to respond.

William
-Attended hackathon for IDigBio and Notes from Nature. How to join transcription with OCR with transcription. Some tools and code existing to do same process. Darwin Score by Jason Best (script) we could utilize for assessing quality of OCR. They also provided an environment in which you could run Notes for Nature on your own computer (to run your own crowdsourcing environment). Attendees: Paul Flemmons from Australia, Jason Best, Ben Brumfeld. Uploaded presentations online.
