Purpose:

Make curated collections of BHL materials available for discovery via the iTunes U platform and downloadable to mobile devices.

Points to consider:

Instructions for creating a new collection in iTunes U

  1. Create an Items collection in BHL
    1. Set it to Active
    2. Check the "iTunes U" checkbox
  2. Remember the text you include in the "URL" field, you will use it throughout the other steps
  3. Create artwork according to the template
    1. Photoshop template for iTunes U collection artwork: iTunesU_BHLCollection_Template.psd
    2. Photoshop template for BHL collection artwork: BHL_Collection_Template.psd
      1. as a JPG
      2. with name Collection_Template_*CollectionURL*.jpg, where *CollectionURL* is the value from step 2
      3. Upload JPG image via Admin Dash
  4. Open iTunes U Site Manager at https://sitemanager.itunes.apple.com and login (username: biodiversitylibrary@gmail.com, for password contact Grace Costantino, costantinog@si.edu)
  5. Click the "Collections" link in the header
  6. Click "Add Collections" icon
  7. Choose the "provider hosted" option and enter the RSS Feed URL: http://www.biodiversitylibrary.org/itunesurss/collection/*CollectionURL*
  8. Customize links and other options using the window provided
  9. When you are finished making edits, click OK
  10. Click "Publish" in the header
    1. Preview your new collection & any other changes
    2. Click Publish
  11. Your collection will be live on iTunes U between 3-24 hours.
