Foldouts

When you get to a foldout in the book,

1) you first shoot the spread (left + right page) with the foldout folded up ,

2) then you check how the foldout unfolds (to the left or to the right),

3) then you lay a blank paper (or something else that kinda has the same colour as the paper in the book) on top of the spread and shoot the now covered left and right page again,

4) then you remove the blank paper,

5) turn the page and shoot the back of the folded up foldout and the page next to it.

What I do with the blank paperfoldoutRight.png
to indicate where the foldout is (left or right page), is I taped a foldout placeholder on the right page on the front of the file folder and another foldout place holder on the left page of the back of the file holder (see attached screenshots). When the foldout folds out to the right, you place the file folder with the foldout place holder on the right, when it folds out to the left, you place the file folder with the foldout place holder on the left. Of course, you could just use a foldout place holder on one side and turn it upside down when the foldout is on the other side. :)

Depending on the size of the book, you may need to use different sized file folders/papers to cover the page next to the foldout (the foldout gets re-shot anyway, so it doesn't matter if it's fully covered or not).

It also gets interesting when you get two foldouts next to one another that foldout in the opposite direction of each other. =) Just make sure there's always a blank page and a foldout on a spread to stay 'in sync' with the actual book.

6) make a note of which leaf number the foldout occurs on
7)Don't tag the foldouts as foldouts right away but wait till you get to the end of the book and you've clicked on check-in to see if there are any errors (don't click on 'ignore errors' at this stage or the book will start uploading!).
8)When there are no errors (or no errors that you can do anything about), you go back to the pages with foldouts (you remembered to write down the leaf numbers, right? :) and tag them as foldouts (only the page with the foldout place holder, not the empty page next to it).
9)Once you've tagged the foldouts, you click on 'Proceed to foldouts' and then you'll get an error because there's no foldout machine. lol... I guess you just click on check-in and then it'll say 'are you sure you want to check-in the book instead of sending it to the foldout station?' and then you click ok/yes.

>>>NEXT STEP depends on if you have a foldout machine or are shooting the foldout with your own camera<<<<<<<<<<<
