Notes about IA accounts and collections

Setting up an IA account with permission to edit

  1. If you don't already have an account at Internet Archive, create an account by navigating to http://www.archive.org/account/login.createaccount.php and completing the form.
  2. Contact Bianca Crowley crowleyb@si.edu to ask for access to the "biodiversity" collection in IA

Setting up a new IA collection [OPTIONAL]

If you are only scanning/uploading content to IA for BHL you may not need your own collection.

See https://archive.org/about/faqs.php#Collections for details.

Sending books to IA for scanning?

Additional steps are necessary for new partners to scan with Internet Archive using their Scribe System.** IA requires a 'partner form' be filled out and submitted to the local scanning center coordinator, or book scanning coordinator at IA HQ, Ginger Bisharat. In this form, a contributing library must specify what funding source ("Sponsor"), collection(s), and scanning center their library will be using. If a contributing library uses multiple sponsors, scanning centers, or collections, each combination of these must be "registered" at IA in order for their material to be uploaded to IA successfully. This form also tells IA how to configure your Z39.50 fetch, and provides for setting up a collection just for that contributing library. (3/23/12 KT)
