- Reminder to BHL Staff list 5/24 and May, July staff calls
Noted inconsistencies
- field books – Rollo Beck Galapagos expedition journal http://www.biodiversitylibrary.org/bibliography/59676
- Museum Victoria publications such as Memoirs of Museum of Victoria http://www.biodiversitylibrary.org/bibliography/59883 - Aug 23, 2012 already talked to Ely about this at gBHL meeting; my understanding is that Joel is/has adapted Macaw to accommodate this
- (Now corrected) Allan Hancock Pacific expeditions. [Reports] http://www.biodiversitylibrary.org/bibliography/5075 -- SIL gap-filled for MBLWHOI; MBLWHOI items corrected during batch update but SIL items not reported; later JJ corrected these manually in BHL and IA
- Amphibian & Reptile conservation vol. 1 http://www.biodiversitylibrary.org/bibliography/57881 -- AMNH sent to SIL for scanning, scanned 4/27, could have just been a timing issue
- Canadian Horticultural History http://www.biodiversitylibrary.org/bibliography/60850 -- MOBOT scanned 6/29/2012
- Journal of the Washington Academy of Sciences http://www.biodiversitylibrary.org/bibliography/2087
- Flore générale de l'Indo-Chine http://www.biodiversitylibrary.org/bibliography/44886 -- seems like dates were not properly observed before scanning so lots of post 1922 content
- OK -- t. 1 1912
- OK -- t. 2 1908-1923
- NO -- t. 3 1922-1933 should have stopped scanning at page 288
- OK – t. 4 1912-1936 but stops prior to 1923 cutting vol. off at page 336
- OK – t. 5 1910-1931 but stops prior to 1923 cutting vol. off at page 228
- NO – t. 6 1908-1942 (only fasc. 1 of 1908 OK)
- OK – t. 7 1907-1912
- Potential issues with mapping CiteBank copyright metadata
- NHM Darwin titles see http://biodiversitylibrary.org/bibliography/61215 for example Note: there was a decision to not adjust the (c) metadata for Darwin's library in general, and these are a part of the collection so perhaps they are ok? They do have different (c) metadata than other Darwin's library materials however...
- Cambridge UNEP titles? No, see http://biodiversitylibrary.org/bibliography/58068 for example -- these are considered archive.org titles...
- BHL China titles?
- West American Scientist http://biodiversitylibrary.org/bibliography/39585 -- MOBOT has added copyright metadata unnecessarily see Gemini 4649
- See Gemini for other issues identified...
Follow Up
As a result of the
BHL staff meeting 2012 it was recommended by Nancy Gwinn that for all volumes scanned beyond the copyright cut-off that I should contact the scanning institution and ask that they perform the appropriate due diligence ASAP. I will be notifying institutions of errant items via Gemini with Priorty = Major and Component = Permissions, Portal Edit. Item metadata needs to be modified in BOTH BHL and IA according to our
Copyright metadata standards.
