NYBG: Don,
SIL: Grace, Gilbert, Bianca, Joel
MOBOT: Michelle, Trish

USGS: Richard Huffine
Welcome Richard Huffine of USGS! USGS ready to hit the ground running with participation. Looking to scan with IA and setting up installation of Macaw to load previously scanned materials.
=QA Issues
AMNH started doing retrospective QA on items scanned after the QA summit. MB had asked Robert about returning items for re-scanning if QA errors found and at the time of the QA summit there were no time limits imposed. After AMNH completed retrospective QA and identified items needing corrections, IA told them there was a 6 month time limit for corrections and disagreed that some items had QA issues at all. MB now to send top 50 items to SIL for scanning via the BHL FedEx workflow. Not ideal.
It is highly recommended that you perform QA checks as part of your regular workflow
UPDATE: Martin to be bringing this to the attn of the BHL Execs at the upcoming IC meeting
Macaw Updates
Museum Victoria is currently using Macaw to upload about a dozen items; adding new features for things that would work for them; Macaw orig. designed for SIL, but with AU's help becoming more flexible
they are adding features? to have some results
graphic designer on staff, making Macaw a bit more modern
demo online, JR to send link out via email
documentation about Macaw is holding things up for full on announcement but in progress, 40 pages of text so far
announced Macaw at Code4Lib.org conference last week, they stream all conference talks, check em out!
BHL AU is contributing code, not just requirements, re: multiple users logging in to see only the items they've worked on
Museum Victoria to act as a hub for loading content for multiple AU contributors
RH working on installing Macaw, want to do so before March
METS
METS files containing title metadata as well as pagination (descriptive and page order (structural) metadata being sent to IA for BHL content. Only content in the <biodiveristy> collection at IA is affected (Items ingested from Cornell in the process of being added to the <biodiversity> collection). Any time information is updated in BHL the METS file is updated in IA. The purpose of the METS file is to accommodate the needs of folks wanting to get our pagination data. METS file is just another file added to the suite of files currently in IA for each BHL item. Information from the METS file is NOT being used to update IA's pagination data, however should IA decide they want to, they are welcome to take the info from the METS file. These METS files are pagination specific and they do not have the item/volume information included. If folks want to get bibliographic metadata for BHL content, they should look to our MODS files on the Data Exports page.
FLickr
much faster workflow now, let Gilbert know, all items being paginated before upload to Flickr, all items post Jay/Heather changes have page links, retrospective page links to be added soon
UPDATE: Retrospective page links added Feb 21, 2012

L&L
report available! Thanks all for taking the survey
Top Priorities:
- improve search
- article level access
- ingest existing lit into BHL - new collaborations
- harmonize gBHL portals
Used Qualtrix for survey and it worked very well, thanks to JJ for the suggestion
Round Robin
NHM: Alison, Jane - not scanning, concentrating on Gemini, contacted IT dept about getting Macaw going, setting aside new scanning money, still working on getting a new scanner, if anything's urgent maybe send to someone else
MBLWHOI: Matt - working on Gemini issues, sending at a trickle
MCZ: JJ, Chris, Joe - scanning money for the end of the year, focus on special collections (primarily based on own selection priorities + Gemini), 85% of what we're doing will be in-house, Gemini until JJ leaves, unlikely that they would get a server/developer to install Macaw on their own
AMNH: Diana Shih, Matthew Bolin - sending QA issues to SIL, doing QA work on Gemini issues sent from July/Oct, getting a set of books to send out soon, SIL doing 100% QA, oversized foldouts getting re-inserted
NYBG: Don - working on 2 grants for landscape history and plant mats for NY - sent to BHL shortly (yes, this is an IA), starting yr 4 of global plants initiative
SIL: Grace, Joel, Gilbert - filling a lot of Gemini requests, sending scanning regularly, processing BHL FedEx
MOBOT: Michelle, Trish - book scanning to dramatically drop off in next year, 2-3 more grants to focus on specimen scanning, scanning primarily Gemini, pagination & display issues have caused a couple of issues, Mike L. & Mike B. working on getting those fixed, only affecting MOBOT items
Field: Diana - still doing Gemini and sending to SIL
USGS: Richard - lots of rare biological materials discovered in library that would be great for BHL, enthusiastic about getting on board and contributing
