New titles can be added via the Title Import. To find this, select “Titles” from the admin dashboard, and then select the “Import” tab.
From there you can specify a MARCXML file to import, as well as the institution contributing the record. Click the “Import” button to import the file. You will then be taken to a page that shows the titles contained in the MARCXML file, and any title in the BHL portal that matches. The example shown here does have a match. If there were no matching title in the portal, there would be nothing listed under “Matching Title”.
When there is a matching title already in the portal, that title will be updated with the information contained in the MARCXML file. If there is no matching title, then a new title will be added. Once you’ve reviewed this page, Click “Import Batch” to complete the import or “Cancel Batch” to cancel the import.
The last page shown will summarize the actions taken (number of records inserted, number updated).
Full disclosure: So far, I’m the only one that has used this feature. On the other hand, I’ve used it to correct the problems we’ve had with diacritics, so it’s been successful used to import hundreds (thousands?) of records. Please let me know if you run into problems.

P.S. If necessary, the MarcEdit tool (
http://oregonstate.edu/~reeset/marcedit/html/downloads.html) can be used to convert MARC21 files to MARCXML.
