BHL Portal User Interface and Functionality Requirements

Purpose

This page will be used to gather requirements and requested changes to the BHL Portal User Interface and Functionality from Users and Staff from Oct.26 2011 to November 2011, when input from the Usability Test comparing BHL US/UK and BHL-AU interfaces will be available. A Technical Team from BHL US/UK and BHL-Australia will review this list during their November 8th-12th Meeting at the Missouri Botanical Garden to determine what actual tasks (with responsibles and times) should be included to attend the requests contained here. The page will be frozen after the requirements have been converted to Redmine Tickets.

List of Requirements

1. The “Feedback” link for "Problems" is confusing.

Description: An user suggested that "Reporting a Problem" is not understood to be included in the "Feedback" link and the title should be clearer to explicitly state that the link includes all input about a problem or to report an error.
Resolution: A team formed by Bianca Crowley, Grace Constantino and Trish Rose-Sandler reviewed the request and in the header at the top of the page stays the same (reporting problems is just another type of feedback)

On the actual feedback form, it should read:

2. “Download PDF” doesn't state it is the entire book.

Description: Grace encountered a user who was struggling to use the PDF generator and didn't understand that "download PDF" meant to download the entire book.
Resolution: In considering the users' request to clarify this and in looking at the BHL AUS UI Bianca, Grace and Trish decided that the text "Download Entire Book" would be much clearer.

3. Get the AU UI rolled into US
