BHL Institutional Council Conference Call April 9, 2009

The next BHL Institutional Council conference call will be on Thursday, April 9 at 11 a.m. EDT.

The main topic of the agenda will be the revised draft of the BHL Strategic Plan, which is attached. Susan Fraser, Nancy Gwinn, and I have attempted to include al the suggestions for content and reformatting from the IC meeting. A few specifics to highlight:

1. The main narrative has been reduced to about 4 pages with much of the details moved to appendices. This has eliminated the need for an Executive Summary.
2. The main narrative only includes the high-level goals with the detailed objectives linked to those goals in an appendix.
3. The budget estimate appendix is almost ready but not included. It will have a high-estimate budget and low-estimate budget with specific assumptions associated with each.
4. The Program Chart is rough and will be made more aesthetically pleasing as we agree on the details. This virtual organization we and our staff have developed does not map well to a standard org chart structure. This is a feature, not a bug.
5. For now we have pulled out the “internationalizing the bhl” appendix and decided that finalizing of it should await more clarification about BHL-E developments.
6. Financial plan will come later.
