Subject: A Few More Facts about BHL You Should Know about
Dear ALL,
It may seem like overkill, but I want to give you a bit more information that I learned from Martin this past Friday.
1. As of the week of March 16, the BHL staff may begin to select only monographs from VZ, then Kellogg, and then finally the Main NH Branch by May, June, or July . At the present time, the BHL team is trouble-shooting the procedure to accommodate foldouts for serial titles. This is the reason they have reverted to digitizing only monographs.
2. Once the problem of foldouts contained in serial volumes is resolved, the team will return again to entomology and mollusks to pull the remaining serials on their picklist.
3. A total of two weeks turnaround time is the average time allocated for monographs from the time they are pulled, placed on the carts, reviewed by SIL, sent to LC, and returned to SIL and once again reviewed.
4. If a problem arises such as with the poor condition of the book or if someone wants to borrow it, we can pull it off the cart and return it to a requestor as long as it is at SIL. During the second week, when the shipment is at LC, it usually is returned on Thursday. However, if a user needs one of our books while it is at LC, it may take up to one week to retrieve. As a precaution always encourage them to check with you to see if we can track down the item wherever it is.
